Description
This Sauternes has glittering gold reflections in the glass. It gives us aromas of peach, candied fruit, floral honey and an exotic touch of pineapple. It is the ultimate experience of a large, sweet white wine made from pourriture noble (noble rot). On the palate it is light and gives a feeling of freshness against a background of round and sweet flavors. In the aftertaste it has a nice creaminess and a refreshing finish. Ideal to combine with foie gras terrine, but also with sweetbreads, fried scallops or a dessert with ripe yellow fruit and almonds, for example.
The Sauternes area is located on the left bank of the Garonne, 40 km upstream from Bordeaux. This area consists of 5 villages: Sauternes, Preignac, Bommes, Fargues, all located on the right bank of Ciron (tributary of the Garonne). Barsac is located on the left bank of Ciron. The Barsac appellation benefits from a specific microclimate due to the confluence of cold water from Ciron and warm water from Garonne; thus, morning mists develop in autumn and quickly move towards the sun. This climate variation promotes the development of noble rot (Botrytis Cinerea). The terroir consists of several layers of silica, chalk and gravel that form a harmonious whole. These layers, deposited over time, allow the wine to acquire its finesse, strength and opulence.
