Honoro Vera Garnacha 2024 – Old Vine Garnacha from Calatayud, Spain

Honoro Vera Garnacha 2024 is a vibrant red wine from Spain's D.O. Calatayud, crafted exclusively from Garnacha grown in old vineyards situated between 700 and 1,000 metres above sea level. These high-altitude sites allow the grapes to achieve excellent concentration while preserving freshness and aromatic complexity.

The wine displays a deep cherry-red colour with subtle garnet highlights. The nose is expressive and intense, revealing aromas of ripe raspberries, red currants, cherries and floral notes layered over mineral and spicy nuances. On the palate it is juicy, approachable and fruit-driven, offering ripe berry flavours, refreshing acidity and soft tannins. The finish is long and gently spicy with hints of white pepper and Mediterranean herbs.

Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks, followed by a brief ageing period in French oak barrels. This subtle oak influence adds texture and complexity while preserving the purity of the Garnacha fruit.

About the Winery

Bodegas Ateca was established in 2005 and forms part of the renowned Gil Family Estates portfolio. Located near Calatayud in Aragón, the winery focuses on old-vine Garnacha grown on slate, stone and clay-rich soils that naturally limit yields and enhance concentration.

Calatayud is one of Spain's highest wine-growing regions. The combination of altitude, poor soils and significant day-night temperature variation produces Garnacha wines known for their intensity, freshness and remarkable value. Honoro Vera has become one of the flagship expressions of modern Spanish Garnacha.
