WINEMASTERCLASSES

Looking for a relaxed afternoon or evening with great wine, good stories and fellow wine lovers?

In our cosy tasting room behind the shop, our experienced sommeliers take you on a journey through a wine region or a specific wine theme. We don’t just talk about the wine in your glass, but also about the region, climate, grapes, traditions and the people behind the wine. We regularly travel to wine regions ourselves and love sharing our experiences and stories from the places we visit.

All our wine masterclasses are held in dutch.

No previous wine knowledge is needed. Whether you already know quite a bit about wine or are simply curious to learn more, everyone is welcome.

During each wine masterclass, we taste 10 beautiful and surprising wines. The Sparkling Wine Masterclass features 8 different sparkling wines. And of course, an extensive sharing platter is included.

Our groups are small, with a maximum of 14 guests. Come with friends, family, your partner, colleagues or simply on your own and enjoy a relaxed and enjoyable wine experience with other wine lovers.

WINE MASTERCLASS ITALY

La Dolce Vita in Your Glass

In Italy, wine, food, culture and tradition are beautifully intertwined. Vineyards can be found throughout the country, and Italy has an incredible diversity of indigenous grape varieties.

During this masterclass, we travel from north to south through Italy. We explore how different climates and landscapes influence the wines and how those differences show up in the glass. We discover both well-known and lesser-known grape varieties. What exactly is Pecorino – not the cheese, but a grape variety that was once almost forgotten? And what do Riserva and Classico mean on an Italian wine label?

We talk about how Amarone is made and why Barolo needs so much time to mature. And, of course, Italian wine and food go hand in hand. Which wine works best with a good tomato sauce? And what exactly is a fiasco?

A relaxed journey from north to south, filled with fascinating grapes, great stories and, of course, La Dolce Vita.

WINE MASTERCLASS SPAIN

Passion, Tradition and Character

Spain is so much more than sangria and Tinto de Verano. It is an incredibly diverse wine country, with major differences in climate, landscape, grape varieties and wine styles.

We start in the northwest, where the Atlantic influence creates fresh white wines from grapes such as Albariño and Godello. From there, we head to the distinctive region of Catalonia and explore the beautiful wines of Priorat.

Of course, we also visit Rioja and the Sherry region. We taste Cava and discover how these Spanish sparkling wines are made. We also explore Corpinnat, a distinctive sparkling wine from Catalonia.

Along the way, plenty of questions come up. Why has Verdejo become so immensely popular, and where do the best Verdejos come from? What is the difference between a Crianza and a Gran Reserva? And what does it mean when someone suggests meeting around vermut time?

And of course: why do we think Sherry deserves a comeback?

Make Sherry Great Again.

WINE MASTERCLASS PORTUGAL

Surprising, Pure and Authentic

Portugal is an incredibly fascinating wine country. From north to south, the landscape and climate change dramatically, and so do the wines.

We start with Vinho Verde and explore how the Atlantic Ocean influences the vineyards. We travel through different wine regions and discover unusual grape varieties and centuries-old wine traditions.

What exactly are field blends? Why are different grape varieties sometimes planted together in the same vineyard? And how is cork actually made? We look at the importance of the cork oak in Portugal and, of course, the influence of the Atlantic on the vineyards.

We also explore Port and Madeira. Two famous Portuguese wines, but with very different stories. How are they made, and what makes them so special?

A masterclass filled with fascinating wines, stories and discoveries from a surprisingly diverse wine country.

WINE MASTERCLASS SOUTH AFRICA

New World with an Old Soul

South Africa is about so much more than safaris, Cape Town and beautiful landscapes. It is a fascinating wine country with a rich history, unique wine traditions and an incredible variety of wine styles.

We visit well-known wine regions such as Stellenbosch and Franschhoek, but also Hemel-en-Aarde, Swartland and Tulbagh. And that is just a selection of the regions we explore during the masterclass.

We discover old vines and bush vines, known locally as bostokkies. What makes these old vines so special? We taste Pinotage and Chenin Blanc, but also surprising white and red wines that you might easily associate with Burgundy.

We also explore Methode Cap Classique and South African Méthode Traditionnelle sparkling wine, known locally as Vonkelwijn. And of course, we talk about South African food and the role of biltong.

A relaxed and surprising journey through a country that has so much more to offer than you might expect.

WINE MASTERCLASS SPARKLING WINE

Bubbles Full of Character

There is something special about a good glass of sparkling wine. The freshness, the mousse and, of course, the moment the bottle is opened. But behind those bubbles lies a world of history, tradition and fascinating differences.

We dive into the world of Champagne. Why did this particular region become so famous? What makes Champagne different from other sparkling wines? And what exactly is a vintage Champagne?

But we look beyond Champagne too. We taste Prosecco, Crémant, Sekt and Franciacorta and discover what these wines have in common and what makes each of them different. What exactly is Franciacorta? And can a great sparkling wine from Italy or Germany really compete with Champagne?

We also explore the history of sparkling wine. Where did the first sparkling wines come from? And why is England now producing such interesting bubbles?

Where do the bubbles actually come from? What do Brut and Extra Brut mean? What is dosage, and what does ageing in the cellar do to a sparkling wine?

And, of course, the questions that always spark a good discussion: What is the difference between a magnum and a Balthazar? How is rosé sparkling wine made? And is Champagne really better than Prosecco or Crémant?

A sparkling evening filled with beautiful bubbles, surprising stories and, of course, plenty of good times.
