Elegant and fruity Pinot Noir. Aromas of red fruit such as raspberries, black currant and raspberry in combination with a small fruit "sweetness". Velvety soft in the mouth and not heavy with a nice filling and a long finish. Very good price/quality! Read more
Valery Renaudat started his wine estate in the Loire in 1999 after wine wanderings in Burgundy, Bordeaux and the US. He started with 2.5 hectares and now has 18 hectares at his disposal.
Valery does not have organic labels but he does work cleanly and allows the biodiversity in the vineyards to flourish (herbs, flowers and grass grow between all the vines). Now with HVE label (sustainability!).
The vines are on average 20 years old. He is a fervent promoter of the pinot noir as his grandfather was one of the first to plant pinot noir in Reuilly.
Quincy & Reuilly are 2 villages in the Loire Central wine region, near Sancerre. Quincy is located in the valley of the Cher river, a tributary of the Loire. Reuilly is located in the valley of the Arnon, which is a tributary of the Cher. The soil at Quincy is a combination of sand and gravel, that of Reuilly is clay and limestone. Reuilly is somewhat more mineral and also more powerful, Quincy is very elegant and refreshing. Remarkably, in Quincy only sauvignon blanc may be planted while in Reuilly also pinot noir and pinot gris (for the gris de gris) may be planted.
