Benoit, a young, up-and-coming winemaker, has been allocated a total of around 7.5 hectares of vineyards by his father, Vincent Girardin. The estate is located in the picturesque village of Santenay. Where his father focused on making a limited number of wines from different vineyards, his son does it completely differently. He focuses on creating specific terroir wines, which express the unique characteristics of each vineyard.
Benoit Girardin has built a solid reputation with his wines, both in France and internationally. His pursuit of excellence and his respect for the Burgundian terroir make him a valued name in the wine world.
For example, he makes Savigny-Les-Beaune (only 0.6 hectares), a Chassagne-Montrachet, a white and a red Santenay, Meursault and a Pommard. All extremely careful, pure and refined. His estate is located in the village of Santenay. Striking biodynamic detail; Benoit always bottles his bottles during a waning moon phase, which is said to be the best time in biodynamics for wines that still need to age.
This Bourgogne Chardonnay comes from carefully selected vineyards and reflects the classic character of the region. In the glass it presents a bright golden yellow color with subtle green nuances. The nose opens with aromas of citrus, white flowers and juicy stone fruit, complemented by a light touch of roasted almonds and vanilla due to the subtle wood aging.
In the mouth this Chardonnay offers a perfect balance between freshness and creaminess. The lively acids are supported by a light minerality and a silky texture. The taste of ripe stone fruit, fresh green apple and a hint of hazelnut leads to a beautiful long finish.
