Riesling Orbel Trocken Raddeck is a powerful Riesling with notes of citrus, mint, and minerals. It has a robust flavor with plenty of fruit and juice. Round and supple on the attack, yet also possesses the necessary acidity and fine bitterness. Read more
Weingut Raddeck is a German family-run winery in the Rheinhessen region. The estate is known for its high-quality Rieslings and sustainable working methods. This beautiful Riesling, from the Orbel vineyard, is no exception. This old vineyard has been producing minerally, multi-layered Rieslings for years. The southern exposure and the special intensity of the sun due to the slope pamper the grapes throughout the entire process. The result is golden-yellow Riesling grapes with small berries.
Stefan Raddeck comes from a family that has been making wine for generations, and thus fell into the business organically. At seven, he first helped with the harvest and has remained involved with the business ever since. However, at fourteen, he had to do an internship, which wasn't permitted at the family business. He chose an internship in banking, which made him realize that making wine was by far his favorite activity.
Stefan now runs an organic winery, located in Nierstein on the Rhine in Rheinhessen. From his modern facility, he has a breathtaking view of the town and the river. The famous "Roter Hang" (Red Hang) is also clearly visible from here; a string of vineyards with red volcanic rock as soil along the Rhine banks.
Mindful of the two-thousand-year history of viticulture in his town, Raddeck feels a great responsibility to treat the land as naturally and sustainably as possible. Healthy soils and a natural environment are, he believes, the only way to achieve excellent wines, so the choice for organic viticulture was an easy one.
This winery produces very precise and pure wines, even in the milder price range. The wines beautifully reflect the grape variety, and the region and vineyard are always clearly evident. Riesling is, of course, important to Raddeck, but he also has a considerable number of Silvaner, Spätburgunder, Huxelrebe, and others in his vineyards.
