Martínez Lacuesta Colección Familia Gran Reserva 2012 – Rioja Alta Gran Reserva

The Bodegas Martínez Lacuesta Colección Familia is a classic and elegant Rioja Gran Reserva, made from a traditional blend of primarily Tempranillo, complemented by Graciano and Mazuelo. The grapes are hand-harvested and come from vines over 40 years old, situated on calcareous clay soil around Haro. In the glass, the wine displays intense aromas of black fruit, spices, balsamic, and a hint of roasted coffee. The taste is remarkably fresh, pure, and complex, with a rich texture and silky tannins.

The depth of this Gran Reserva is created through prolonged wood aging of no less than 36 months in American oak barrels. During this resting period, the wine undergoes regular, manual racking based on gravity. This traditional method ensures natural filtration and a stable, steady development. The result is a harmonious wine with great aging potential, which continues to mature peacefully after bottling to its characteristic refinement.

Bodegas Martínez Lacuesta, founded in 1895 in Haro, is one of the historic, century-old wineries of La Rioja. At the time, the family business played a key role in the establishment of the official appellation of origin (D.O.Ca. Rioja).
