La Tunella Biancosesto 2023 displays a radiant straw-yellow hue with greenish reflections. The nose is refined and elegant, featuring delicate notes of fine pastry, vanilla, and acacia blossom, complemented by vibrant, fresh accents of white fruit and white flowers.
On the palate, the wine opens delicately and fully; it is supple, yet savory and light-footed. The crisp liveliness of the Ribolla Gialla provides tension, while the Friulano adds roundness and a subtle hint of almond. The finish is long and persistent, with a delicate minerality.
La Tunella is a family-run estate in Friuli, established in the 1960s by "Grandpa" Min and his son Livio, and now managed by Massimo and Marco Zorzettig. The vineyards span seventy hectares, all located within the Colli Orientali del Friuli DOC.
Biancosesto is a blend of 50% Friulano and 50% Ribolla Gialla—two indigenous white grape varieties that embody the identity of eastern Friuli. The grapes are grown in *ponca* soil, a mixture of Eocene-era marl and sandstone. The wine is aged for several months on its fine lees in oak barrels, which imparts additional texture and complexity.
