Franz Keller Oberbergener Pulverbuck Weissburgunder 2023 displays a bright, light-yellow to golden hue with greenish reflections. The nose is refined and layered, offering notes of yellow apple, ripe pear, peach, and apricot, complemented by a touch of butter, toasted hazelnut, toffee, and subtle, spicy oak nuances. A mineral and floral accent keeps the overall profile fresh.
On the palate, the wine is dry, juicy, and powerful, with a creamy, soft texture balanced by a lively freshness. The structure is concentrated and harmonious, with good length, during which the minerality becomes increasingly pronounced.
Weingut Franz Keller is located in Vogtsburg-Oberbergen in the Kaiserstuhl region of Baden and is managed by Fritz Keller, together with his son Friedrich, representing the third generation. The estate follows nature-oriented and environmentally conscious practices, harvesting relatively early to preserve freshness; it has been a member of the VDP since 2014.
The grapes are sourced from the Pulverbuck—a vineyard in Oberbergen classified as a VDP Erste Lage—situated in the Kaiserstuhl, a volcanic hill massif covered in loess soil in the warm, southwestern part of Baden. The wine is aged primarily in large wooden casks, with a small portion matured in 350-liter barrels.
