A Cognac House with a Remarkable Heritage
The story of A.E. DOR began in 1858, when Amédée-Edouard DOR turned his passion for cognac into a lifelong ambition. He travelled throughout the Cognac region in search of exceptional eaux-de-vie, carefully selecting them and allowing them to mature. Over the years, the house built an impressive collection of old cognacs. Some of these precious spirits are still kept in the famous cellar known as Le Paradis. A.E. DOR is renowned for its dedication to tradition, patience and quality.
18 Years of Ageing and Three Exceptional Regions
What makes this Napoléon particularly interesting is its blend of eaux-de-vie from three different areas of the Cognac region: Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne and Borderies. Each area contributes its own distinctive character to the final blend. Petite Champagne brings maturity, Borderies adds freshness and floral character, while Grande Champagne is known for its finesse and beautiful length.
The eaux-de-vie have been aged for an impressive 18 years. This extended maturation in oak barrels gives the cognac extra complexity, warmth and a beautifully rounded character.
A Flavour to Savour
The nose reveals inviting aromas of brown sugar, raisins and sweet Danish pastries. Fresh green apple with a hint of caramel adds an interesting contrast. On the palate, the cognac is rich and full-bodied, offering flavours of dark caramel, syrup and toasted raisins. Gentle oak notes, nutmeg and allspice provide a lovely balance to the sweeter aromas.
The finish is particularly long, with a combination of fruity, spicy and subtle leathery notes.
A Special Cognac for a Special Moment
A.E. DOR Cognac Napoléon is best enjoyed neat, at room temperature and served in a beautiful cognac glass. Give it a little time to release its aromas and develop in the glass. It also pairs wonderfully with dark chocolate, nut-based desserts or a piece of mature cheese.
A characterful French cognac with 18 years of ageing, a fascinating heritage and a flavour that lingers long after the last sip.
