Moillard-Grivot Hautes Côtes de Nuits Rouge 2022

The Moillard-Grivot Hautes Côtes de Nuits Rouge 2022 is an authentic Burgundy red wine made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes. This wine originates from the Hautes Côtes de Nuits, a region located west of the renowned Côte de Nuits, with vineyards situated between 300 and 400 meters in altitude. The soil is predominantly limestone with marl and clay, contributing to the wine’s fresh and mineral character.

Its appearance in the glass is a clear ruby red, reflecting the youth and vibrancy of the 2022 vintage. The nose reveals a delicate bouquet of red fruits such as strawberry, raspberry, and blackcurrant. These fruity aromas are complemented by subtle hints of licorice and light coffee notes, derived from partial aging in oak barrels, adding complexity without overpowering the fruit.

Traditional winemaking methods are employed for this wine. Grapes undergo a cold pre-fermentation maceration around 8°C, followed by a three-week fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Techniques such as pigeage (punching down the skins) and remontage (pumping over) enhance color, structure, and extraction.

After fermentation, a malolactic fermentation takes place, and the wine matures for 8 to 16 months, partly in oak barrels, which balances the fresh fruit with soft tannins.
On the palate, the wine is smooth and elegant, with a rich spectrum of fruit flavors that mirror the nose. Soft tannins provide a silky texture, while the lively acidity adds freshness and a long, gentle finish.
