Albert Jarraud’s Pineau des Charentes Blanc displays a clear, golden-yellow hue and an inviting nose of ripe white fruit, honey, and dried apricot, accompanied by a light, spicy undertone derived from oak aging.
On the palate, the drink is soft and velvety, featuring a pleasant sweetness balanced by fresh acidity, hallmarks of an excellent Pineau. The Cognac eau-de-vie adds depth and subtle warmth, while the fruit character takes center stage in a juicy, rounded finish with notes of candied fruit and vanilla.
Pineau des Charentes is a protected AOC (since 1945) from the Charente and Charente-Maritime regions, produced by fortifying lightly fermented grape must with Cognac eau-de-vie aged for at least one year. The *blanc* version is aged for a minimum of 18 months—including at least 12 months in oak barrels—giving this distinctive drink its characteristic rounded, slightly woody structure.
