Tokinoka is produced by Eigashima Shuzo at the White Oak Distillery, located in the Japanese coastal town of Akashi. This family-owned company has a long history of producing quality spirits and is one of the pioneers of Japanese whisky production. The name Tokinoka can be loosely translated as 'the scent of time', a beautiful reference to the influence of maturation and oak on the character of whisky.
Tokinoka Black is a blend of 50% malt whisky and 50% grain whisky. This combination creates a lovely balance between flavour and smoothness. The malt whisky gives the blend its character and depth, while the grain whisky provides a soft and approachable texture. The whisky is matured in several types of oak casks, including ex-bourbon casks, sherry casks and new oak casks. It is this combination that gives the whisky its versatile character.
In the glass, Tokinoka Black displays a warm golden colour. The nose is inviting and fruity, with aromas of tropical fruit, citrus, honey and toasted oak. On the first sip, you will discover a beautifully rounded flavour with notes of mango, pineapple, vanilla and caramel.
