Cabeças do Reguengo Solstício Tinto 2022 is a remarkable red wine from the high-altitude vineyards of Portalegre, in the northern Alentejo region. This unique terroir, located at the foot of the Serra de São Mamede, combines granite and schist soils with a cool microclimate. The slow ripening of the grapes results in wines with striking freshness, elegance, and complexity—qualities rarely associated with the warmer regions of southern Portugal.
The Solstício Tinto 2022 is crafted from a blend of indigenous grape varieties sourced from old vines, including Trincadeira, Castelão, Aragonez, and Alicante Bouschet. The grapes are hand-harvested and carefully selected to ensure only the finest fruit is used. Fermentation takes place with native yeasts and minimal intervention, followed by several months of maturation in used French oak barrels.
In the glass, the wine displays a deep ruby color. The bouquet is refined and expressive, revealing aromas of ripe red berries, cherries, wild herbs, pepper, and subtle earthy notes. On the palate, it is vibrant and fresh, with silky tannins and a well-balanced structure. The wine’s minerality and natural acidity lend it remarkable tension and length.
Cabeças do Reguengo Solstício Tinto 2022 embodies both power and finesse. It reflects the winery’s philosophy of minimal intervention and respect for nature. Perfectly suited to accompany dishes such as grilled lamb, game, stews, or aged cheeses, this wine is beautifully balanced now but also has the potential to evolve gracefully with a few years of bottle ageing.
An authentic, characterful wine that elegantly captures the soul of the Alentejo.
