UNPACKING WITH WINE
We are wine maniacs, and we are mothers. As mothers, these weeks we run from one toy store to another in our sparse free time for the coolest presents. Our children are infected with a completely different virus, the Sinterklaas-virus. Their wish lists are not subject to corona or any morbid monster.
Pakjesavond (Dutch for suprise evening) is sacred. Our children now know how things work, but whether Sinterklaas pays for the presents or mum does not make the tension on December 5 less great. While the kids are unwrapping the presents in record time, we crave a good glass of wine after all that searching, sealing, crafting and wrapping work. Rhyming is better off after a few glasses anyway. But what actually goes with gingerbread cookies? With marzipan? With that a chocolate letter?
We can keep enumerating what is not possible in this crazy time. It remains sour that we cannot all celebrate Sinterklaas at the same time, but pampering ourselves is still not prohibited.
We couldn't think of a better excuse to snack guilty-free. We indulged ourselves in grit and tough for the optimal wine accompaniment on parcel evening. And we have found them, only partly in Spain, the wines that match perfectly with all the goodies of Sinterklaas. The result (see below) is available in our store on Fahrenheitstraat or online via purple links.
Par, a vino de naranja, from the Spanish winery Iglesias with dark chocolate, believe us, you will not find a greater gift for the taste buds. We take it for granted that the dental bill is slightly higher this year due to this research.
Cheers, to Sinterklaas!
